Invisible victims of my homeland’s bloodshed (working title)
Documenting the void of loneliness among Nagorno-Karabagh's War Widows
This long-term photo project documents the stories of young war widows who were pregnant when they lost their husbands to the brutal fighting that claimed more than 7,000 lives during the 2020 conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh republic of the south Caucasus. Mostly in their early 20s, these women now face daily struggles to overcome a wrenching double loss: not only the deaths of their spouses, but the loss of their homeland as well. Some are reduced to raising their children all alone in temporary refugee shelters.
